The Basic programme
is purely a spoken course designed to familiarize
the student with phonetics, syntax, semantics
and a vocabulary of about 1000 words. The more
advanced Diploma programme places special' focus
on grammatical,
topical or situational subjects, and the vocabulary
is increased to over 3000 words. The advanced
programme also teaches basic Japanese script,
including an introduction to Kanji (ideographic,
for Chinese origin and Japanese origin words),
Hiragana (script derived from Kanji for Japanese
origin words) and Katakana (script derived from
Kanji for Foreign origin words and onomatopoeia).
